It's common for patients to have some initial difficulties inserting the needle subcutaneously. The needle for Ganirelix injections is slightly thicker than needles used for other fertility treatment medications. Icing the injection area before and after can help make the injection easier. You can also try injecting another nearby area if your first few attempts don't work.

Apply gauze or a cotton ball onto the injection site with a small amount of pressure for about 30 seconds to stop any bleeding that may occur.
